Quote Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Quoting Analyst to support a strategic growth initiative within the B2B organization of a Fortune 50 retailer. This contractor will play a critical role in transforming construction material orders into complete, customer-ready quotes, helping drive operational efficiency and enhanced service for professional B2B customers.

Working within a cross-functional environment, this individual will leverage deep construction estimating expertise, blueprint interpretation skills, analytical thinking, and project ownership capabilities to ensure accurate, comprehensive, and timely quote development. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in construction estimating, material takeoffs, and commercial or residential building practices, with the ability to work independently and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Estimating & Quote Development

• Convert detailed construction material takeoffs into complete and accurate project quotes.
• Review material lists generated by third-party takeoff providers and validate completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
• Research products, specifications, substitutions, and pricing information to develop comprehensive customer-ready quotes.
• Identify missing materials, scope gaps, inconsistencies, and potential risks that may impact quote accuracy or project execution.
• Apply industry best practices for material estimation, waste calculations, and product selection.

Blueprint Analysis & Construction Review

• Interpret and analyze complex architectural, structural, and construction drawings to determine project scope and material requirements.
• Cross-reference plans, specifications, and material schedules to ensure all project components are accurately captured.
• Identify discrepancies, omissions, or unclear project requirements and develop Requests for Information (RFIs) when necessary.
• Utilize construction knowledge to evaluate building assemblies, construction methods, and material applications.

Business Analysis & Continuous Improvement

• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned initiatives and quoting processes.
• Analyze workflows, quote quality, and operational performance to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and accuracy.
• Conduct research and utilize independent judgment to develop recommendations that support business goals and customer experience improvements.
• Participate in testing, learning, and process refinement efforts to optimize quoting operations.

Project Ownership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Manage small to medium-sized initiative-specific projects and reporting responsibilities.
• Prioritize workload and deliverables to meet established service-level expectations and project timelines.
• Partner with sales leadership, operations teams, takeoff providers, and internal stakeholders to support strategic business objectives.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates effectively to leadership and cross-functional partners.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of professional experience in construction estimating, material takeoffs, project quoting, or a related construction services function.
• Advanced ability to read, interpret, and analyze architectural and structural blueprints.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, building materials, assemblies, specifications, and industry terminology.
• Demonstrated experience developing accurate construction estimates and material quotes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to independently identify issues, evaluate options, and make sound recommendations.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using estimating and takeoff software such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms.
• Prior experience supporting contractor, building materials, lumber, or construction supply businesses.
• Familiarity with quoting and procurement processes within large retail, distribution, or construction environments.
• Experience creating RFIs and resolving plan discrepancies during the estimating process.
