Customer Service Claims Examiner (Hybrid)

Location: 2929 Walker Ave NW, Walker, MI 49544

Structure: W2 Contract through September 7th

Schedule: In Office Monday–Wednesday | Remote Thursday–Friday

Hours: Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM

Pay Rate: $20/hour

Dress Code: Business Casual


Position Overview

We are seeking a Customer Service Claims Examiner to support customer-focused claims intake function. This role serves as the first point of contact for customers experiencing complex incidents, ensuring accurate documentation, empathetic communication, and efficient claim initiation.


This position operates within a structured delivery environment, partnering with internal stakeholders to support timely and professional resolution of customer claims.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for customers with complex claims, including property damage and personal injury incidents
  • Conduct detailed intake calls, gathering all relevant information such as contact details, incident summaries, and supporting context
  • Document claims accurately within internal systems to ensure proper case setup and downstream handling
  • Establish trust with customers through clear, empathetic communication and set expectations for follow-up timelines
  • Assess claim complexity and route or escalate cases appropriately based on established processes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless handoff and continuity throughout the claims lifecycle
  • Maintain professionalism and composure when managing sensitive or escalated customer situations
  • Support service-level expectations within a structured, high-volume contact center environment


Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in customer service, call center, claims, or related environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive or complex conversations
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and navigate multiple systems during customer interactions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment
  • Experience in insurance, retail, or claims-related functions is a plus
