SUMMARY
This is the second of five levels in the Risk Management series. Two positions with distinct areas of responsibility.
Safety Position - Incumbent will assist with the implementation and sustaining the safety and fleet programs. Responsibilities include conducting training, inspections, and investigations.
Risk Management Position - Incumbents oversee the allocation of employee benefits packages, handle all inquiries about insurance, ensure that employees receive the proper benefits package, follow-up with health care providers and educate employees regarding new and changed benefits and insurance plans, create and process various invoices, reconcile multiple accounts, and maintain the benefits administration system.
ESSENTIAL CLASS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety Position
- Conduct training for individual departments;
- Conduct inspections of worksites and vehicles;
- Conduct investigations involving near-miss incidents, accidents, and injuries;
- Prepares, processes, and maintains various reports;
- Assist with development of written safety procedures.
Risk Management Position
- Leads information sessions on company benefits and explains various benefit options to new employees;
- Assists employees in filling out the paperwork for their benefits package;
- Addresses employee inquiries about their insurance benefits and acts as liaison between employee and insurance provider / third party administrator, as necessary;
- Provides technical information and instruction regarding benefits coverage and claims information to employees, retirees, and dependents; interprets and explains rules and procedures; answers questions; and resolves problems, complaints, and issues;
- Calculates the proper paycheck deductions for benefits;
- Reconciles and processes weekly check register;
- Creates monthly invoices for special districts and retiree coverage;
- Reviews and processes workers compensation claims and submits to appropriate department/vendor for further processing;
- Maintains benefits administration system;
- Reconciles member eligibility and general ledger accounts;
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree and one-year of specialized training in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Prefer Associate’s Degree in related field.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
