Under general supervision of the Station Manager, to coordinate daily activities in programming, operations, and/or on-air promotions in a multi-channel television station.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This single incumbent classification reports to the Public Access Television Station Manager and requires administrative and technical skill to assist in the operation and activities related to Public, Education, and Government (PEG) cable access programming services. Incumbent will assist in public outreach, and production programming.
Principles and practices of broadcasting and communications, including digital file servers and playback scheduling software; related software; television recording formats, program production, program scheduling; federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations; use of programming equipment; modern office procedures, methods and equipment, including computer operations and office software.
Skill and Ability to:
Assist with maintaining station operations; schedule programming; perform community outreach; use institutional networks utilized by public agencies; assist the community in their programming needs; schedule programming in studio; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; write effective social media posts; stay informed on trends, events and developments within the industry; provide excellent customer service; establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and prioritize workload.
Education, Training, and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
College-level coursework in television broadcasting, journalism, or communications OR two years of experience working in a television or radio station, including program, operations, or scheduling, or related industry.
Possession of a valid California driver's license.

- Assists in the selection and recording of programs, promotional materials, and satellite feeds;
- Prepares and distributes future program listings;
- Maintains the library of pre-recorded programs;
- Prepares and maintains the weekly program log;
- Consults with station manager on programming and program-schedule matters;
- Coordinates production and operation activities, such as scheduling of programming;
- Input programming from outside sources;
- Operate digital playback system, including inputting programs from both the studio and digital archive; schedule programs for playback;
- Use transcoder software and troubleshoot formatting and coding issues;
- Create Public Service Announcements using graphic design software;
- Produce duplicates of programming using multiple formats;
- Distribute programs using a variety of delivery options;
- Research programs of community interest, obtain permission to play the programs, download programs, change the program format to ensure compatibility with our system before scheduling for playback;
- Assist the station manager with special projects;
- Maintain Station website and social media pages
- May act as station manager in his/her absence; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
