POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Buyer supports the purchasing team in sourcing and procuring goods and services for multiple departments, including bar, restaurant, hotel, and casino operations. This role assists with vendor communication, purchase order processing, price tracking, and inventory monitoring while learning procurement practices and warehouse logistics. The Junior Buyer helps ensure inventory availability within budget and under the guidance of senior purchasing staff and management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchasing Support
- Assist in creating and processing purchase orders (POs) according to company procedures
- Create purchase requisitions (PRs) to replenish warehouse inventory
- Send purchase orders to appropriate departments and vendors as required
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including pricing, lead times, inventory levels, and supplier information
- Monitor open purchase orders and assist with follow-up on deliveries, invoices, and order closures
- Support identification and reporting of inventory shortages or supply issues
- Maintain company inventory records and assist with inventory control processes
- Assist in creating and maintaining item records to support par levels and inventory accuracy
Vendor Coordination
- Communicate with established vendors via email, phone, and in-person meetings to request pricing, availability, and delivery information
- Assist in gathering and organizing product and supplier information for review
- Maintain accurate vendor communication logs and support relationship management
Research & Product Support
- Review new product information from suppliers, trade publications, and industry sources
- Assist in presenting new product options to relevant departments
- Compare products based on price, quality, and availability to support purchasing decisions
Systems & Administration
- Assist in maintaining and updating purchasing system data (pricing, item descriptions, vendor records, etc.)
- Help process invoices, requisitions, and related purchasing documentation
- Audit purchase orders to ensure accuracy and proper documentation
- Support process improvements within the purchasing and inventory workflow
Cross-Functional Support
- Work with internal departments to support purchasing needs and inventory requirements
- Assist in aligning purchasing activities with budget and par level guidelines
- Assist with receiving and unloading deliveries as needed
- Deliver in-house packages and materials to departments as required
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks or special projects as assigned by management
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications:
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field preferred
- Basic understanding of purchasing, inventory, or supply chain concepts preferred
- Basic math skills, including percentages, discounts, and simple calculations
- Ability to follow instructions and apply established procedures
- Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Ability to write basic reports and professional emails or correspondence
- Strong communication skills to interact with vendors, managers, and team members
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to solve routine problems and ask for guidance when needed
- Team-oriented, dependable, and willing to learn procurement processes
- Previous experience in gaming, hospitality, retail, or administrative support preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred 2-3 years of hands-on Purchasing and Receiving work experience.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Certifications & Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Cahuilla Gaming License
- Must be able to pass an extensive background security check
- Must be willing to submit to random drug and/or alcohol testing
- Must be able to obtain a California Driver’s License
- Must complete required Casino Essentials training courses
- Must obtain and maintain any additional licenses or certifications required for job duties

- If none of the applicants should meet the stated qualifications, applicants whose education and experience are less than the stated requirements, may be interviewed and hired provided the applicant hired submits a formal written training plan within (30) thirty days which can be completed within a “reasonable time” agreed upon by the supervisor and the applicant. Applicants who are hired and fail to meet the agreed upon formal training program will be discharged upon failure to complete the specified training as so scheduled. A drug test will be required prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
