What are the responsibilities and job description for the High Volume Bartender position at Café Italia?
Italia in the Garden is an upscale Italian café and cocktail destination in downtown Providence. Our bar is known for espresso martinis, dessert martinis, a Divine Spritz Collection, and show-stopping cocktails served in Medusa heads, floral purses, and signature shells. We're looking for a bartender who loves creativity, polish, and putting on a great show for guests.
What You'll Do
- Craft espresso martinis, dessert martinis, spritzes, signature cocktails, and brunch cocktails to our recipes
- Prepare our showpiece drinks, including tableside Dirty Martini Cart service and presentation-driven cocktails
- Pour wine, sparkling by the glass and bottle, and beer, and make confident recommendations
- Create mocktails and non-alcoholic options with the same care
- Check IDs and serve alcohol responsibly, following all Rhode Island laws
- Process payments and manage tabs accurately using our POS system
- Keep the bar stocked, clean, and organized, including opening and closing duties
- Work closely with servers, runners, and the kitchen
What We're Looking For
- 3 years of bartending experience, ideally in a cocktail-focused or upscale setting
- Strong knowledge of spirits, liqueurs, and classic cocktails (Manhattans, French 75s, Old Fashioneds, Sidecars)
- Experience with espresso-based cocktails and a creative, presentation-minded approach
- Comfort with tableside service and engaging guests
- Speed and accuracy during busy brunch, dinner, and weekend service
- A friendly, polished presence and strong communication skills
- Reliable, team-minded, and open to feedback
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to [30-50] lbs
- Must be 21 and hold or be willing to obtain required alcohol service certification
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and brunch shifts
Strong tip potential, with cocktails averaging 18-24 and a busy downtown Providence guest base
Pay: $16.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 40.0 per week
