What are the responsibilities and job description for the INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER position at Cadence Innovations Group?
We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Manager to lead our small but skilled infrastructure team. This role is not purely managerial—you’ll be in the trenches, overseeing architectural design, managing system and network engineering tasks, and owning the end-to-end stability, scalability, and security of our mid-sized business network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strategic foresight, strong technical skills and an appreciation for documentation and compliance. You’ll help evolve a well-established system with fresh ideas and strategic improvements, transitioning toward a zero-trust security model while maintaining business continuity and operational excellence.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 3 other engineers supporting IT infrastructure operations including help desk, network services, cybersecurity, and cloud environments.
- Architect and maintain secure, scalable, and redundant systems across on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
- Oversee cybersecurity tools and practices (CrowdStrike, KnowBe4) ensuring compliance and protection.
- Manage and maintain network systems including Cisco switches, Aruba wireless, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Administer Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server environments, DNS, and Microsoft InTune.
- Oversee and manage VMWare environments, ensuring optimal performance and stability for virtual machines and IIS web servers.
- Maintain a SQL Server failover cluster
- Maintain an effective backup and disaster recovery strategy
- Handle infrastructure-related ticketing and performance tracking via Azure DevOps.
- Take ownership of hardware inventory, procurement, and vendor management (especially with Zones for Microsoft licensing and hardware purchasing).
- Plan and execute after-hours infrastructure upgrades and maintenance (e.g., firmware updates, scheduled outages).
- Support the move toward hybrid infrastructure models (Azure or AWS experience a plus).
- Foster a stable and secure environment while identifying opportunities for strategic improvement without disrupting ongoing operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network or Systems Engineering or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in systems and network design and implementation.
- Deep expertise with:
- Active Directory and Microsoft server environments
- Network topology and MS server licensing
- Infrastructure security best practices and business continuity planning
- Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure teams and initiatives.
- Comfortable being on-site full time with availability for occasional after-hours work.
- Excellent documentation practices and a meticulous approach to system management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco Certification (CCNA, CCNP, etc.) is a strong plus.
- Cyber Security certifications a plus.
- Experience with Azure and/or AWS environments.
- Background in managing IT within mid-sized businesses or in a Director role at a smaller company.
