SUMMARY

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Facilitator oversees and supports all aspects of WBL programs across high school campuses, including placements, site visits, and documentation. Serves as the primary liaison with industry partners to cultivate internships and apprenticeships, ensures compliance with child labor laws and work permit processes, manages WBL data, and provides professional development for WBL teachers and support to counselors in scheduling.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide comprehensive support and serve as a key resource for campus Work-Based Learning (WBL) teachers, facilitating effective program implementation and student engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with high school counselors to streamline WBL scheduling processes, ensuring optimal student participation and program alignment.
  • Strategically oversee and manage Work-Based Learning (WBL) placement opportunities across all high school campuses, cultivating diverse and meaningful experiential learning experiences for students.
  • Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of WBL site visits, ensuring valuable and insightful interactions between students and industry professionals.
  • Establish and maintain a robust system for collecting, organizing, and managing essential documentation from all high school campus WBL teachers, ensuring program accountability and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary district-level liaison with industry partners, fostering strong relationships to develop and expand opportunities for WBL, internships, and apprenticeships that align with student career goals and local economic needs.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of district records pertaining to student work certificates and permits, adhering to legal requirements and facilitating smooth employment processes.
  • Manage the integrity, accuracy, and utilization of Work-Based Learning (WBL) data, generating reports and insights to inform program improvement and decision-making.
  • Design, organize, and facilitate professional development opportunities for WBL teachers, enhancing their knowledge, skills, and best practices in work-based learning pedagogy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all applicable federal and state child labor laws, prioritizing the safety and well-being of student workers in WBL placements.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to District Employment Certifying Officers, ensuring consistent and compliant issuance of work permits.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out job responsibilities in accordance with the department’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree; four to six years job-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience Should satisfy Louisiana requirement of a teaching certificate with authorization for parish or city school supervisor of instruction, or Educational Leader 1 or 2 (as revised in Bulletin 746).

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
