Position Overview:
Cabrini High School, a college-preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is seeking a qualified and passionate Catholic religion teacher to join its theology department. The ideal candidate will be a faithful and practicing Catholic who embodies the values of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini and is committed to forming students intellectually, spiritually, and morally in alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Responsibilities:
- Teach high school religion courses in accordance with the Archdiocese of New Orleans curriculum guidelines and the USCCB Framework.
- Develop engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans rooted in Scripture, Catholic doctrine, and moral theology.
- Foster an environment that encourages spiritual growth, respectful dialogue, critical thinking, and compassionate service.
- Integrate Catholic Social Teaching and a sacramental worldview into course content.
- Collaborate with the theology department and campus ministry team to support school-wide faith formation events, retreats, Masses, and service projects.
- Maintain communication with parents, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and faith formation.
- Serve as a role model of Catholic faith and values in all interactions with students, faculty, and the wider school community.
Qualifications:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology Studies (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience teaching in a Catholic school setting is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine and the ability to teach it with clarity and pastoral sensitivity.
- Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
