What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Teacher - 1st/2nd Grade (2026-2027 School Year) position at Cabot School?

Teaching Foundational Skills:
Introducing and reinforcing letter recognition, phonics, numbers, basic math concepts, and early literacy skills.
Practice skills and concepts utilizing various learning modes, such as hands-on approaches and low-floor, high-ceiling tasks.
Familiarity with UFLI, Orton Gillingham, All Learners Network, Bookworms, and Illustrative would be beneficial.
Assessment and Observation:
Regularly observe student progress, evaluate their performance through various assessments, and adjust the curriculum accordingly.
Regular communication with parents and administration regarding progress monitoring and social-emotional developments is required.
Classroom Management:
Maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment, establishing clear expectations for behavior, and enforcing expectations to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
Familiarity with Responsive Classroom and PBIS would be beneficial.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicating regularly with parents about their child's progress, collaborating with other teachers and staff members, and participating in professional development opportunities.
Creating a Positive Learning Environment:
Fostering a love of learning, nurturing social and emotional development, and promoting positive student relationships through the use of the above-mentioned values.
Requited Qualifications
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations. Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License. Holds the appropriate endorsement(s) and meets all the basic competencies and qualifications of the endorsement(s) as listed in the Regulations Governing the Licensing of Educators and the Preparation of Educational Professionals.
Cabot is a school that values project-based learning, and experience in this area is beneficial.
Supervision:
Supervising students during lunchtime, recess, and other activities outside the classroom.
This is a 1.0 FTE for the 2026-2027 school year.
Salary : $53,460 - $86,338
