Overview
We are seeking a Flagger/OSP Laborer who will be responsible for ensuring safe traffic flow in construction zones or work areas where roadwork or construction work might disrupt normal traffic patterns. This position is also responsible for assisting with on-site installation of both underground and aerial fiber optic cable.
Responsibilities
- Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic through construction zones using hand signals, flags and other traffic control devices
- Ensure drivers and pedestrians adhere to traffic control instructions to prevent accidents and delays
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as signs, cones, barricades and lights in accordance with traffic control plans
- Inspect and replace damaged or malfunctioning equipment as needed to ensure safety and compliance
- Abide by and follow company policies and procedures
- Set up construction zones
- Assist with all facets of constructing fiber optic cable and/or strand to include digging, pulling and hanging fiber optic cable, duct or strand
- Work outdoors in various types of weather
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required
- One or more years’ experience in Cable construction is preferred
- Prior flagging/traffic control experience is preferred
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable
