What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Cabinetworks Group?
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supporting the cost accounting processes of the company, to include month-end journal entries, maintenance of standard costs, inventory reconciliation, production of periodic financial reports, and adherence to internal controls.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare month-end journal entries in compliance with critical reporting deadlines
- Audit, review, and maintain bill of materials and standard costing in Oracle
- Reconcile inventory in general ledger against the sub-ledgers
- Compile purchase price variance report to support supply chain and procurement departments
- Run reports and analyze manufacturing efficiency, volume, mix and budget variances
- Adhere to all appropriate financial policies such as GAAP and SOX
- Participate in continuous improvement activities (i.e., Kaizen events) to support cost reduction initiatives
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 1 year manufacturing cost accounting experience
- Knowledge and application of basic accounting procedures and cost accounting processes
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to function at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative without daily interaction with management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
- Experience with ODBCs, SQL and Visual Basic
- AS400 query experience
- Prior ERP experience (Oracle, SAP)
