What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner - ECCC Surgical Oncology position at Cabell Huntington Hospital?
The APN will work with the Gynecological Oncologist, cancer care team and leadership to provide education and care to patients with GYN disease, benign and malignant. The APN will function within their scope of practice as defined by the West Virginia Board of Nursing or the West Virginia Board of Medicine. They are responsible for continuously maintaining license and certifications required to practice in the state of West Virginia.

- Performs comprehensive initial and episodic health history and physical examinations to identify cancer risk, existing or potential health problems
- Initiates appropriate diagnostic, therapeutic, medical, and nursing actions in conjunction with ECCC physicians.
- Provides follow-up care including acute and routine examinations
- Triage patient problem calls in office which require medical attention
- Provides health education to patients and families (high-risk educations, anticipatory teaching, clinical teaching regarding biopsy results).
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between referring physicians and other health care setting
