The Cabarrus County Department of Social Services is seeking a Prevention Social Work Supervisor III to lead programs that support children and families through early intervention, parent education, and community collaboration.

Hiring range for this position is $63,585.60 - $76,024.00. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 35% percentile. Pay grade for this position is 23.
General Definition of Work:
This position provides advanced-level supervision, strategic leadership, direction, and coordination of prevention-focused social work programs designed to strengthen families, build protective factors, and prevent children from entering foster care whenever it is safe to do so. This position will work closely with all divisions in the department.
The role operates within federal, state, and county guidelines while exercising independent judgment and initiative in program and staff leadership. The selected candidate will supervise professional and support staff and play a critical role in advancing a family centered system of care that prioritizes keeping children safe with their families while promoting long-term family stability, safety, and well-being. This role also contributes to building a coordinated continuum of prevention services through strong community partnerships, resource development, and cross-system collaboration. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a Program Administrator or Program Manager.Essential Functions:
• Planning, scheduling, directing, supervising, and participating in the delivery of social work programs and services.
• Reviewing casework, holding conferences, and assisting social workers in resolving difficult case situations.
• Making case decisions and judgments that impact the life and safety of children, the elderly or disabled adults.
• Interpreting and providing guidance on regulations and procedures.
• Providing on-the-job training for staff and making arrangements for staff to receive formal training.
• Preparing, reviewing and maintaining detailed and complex records, files, reports, and confidentiality.

Typical Tasks:
- Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate staff; contribute to hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance management
- Oversee parenting and prevention programs, including curriculum implementation, parent education, and skill-building services
- Ensure fidelity to evidence-based and evidence-informed models; monitor program outcomes and evaluate long-term impact on child safety, family stability, and prevention of foster care entry.
- Review casework, lead staffing, and assist with complex or high-risk situations impacting child and family safety
- Make decisions impacting the safety and well-being of children and families
- Assign and manage caseloads to ensure equitable workload distribution
- Interpret and apply policies and procedures; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and grant requirements
- Analyze complex situations and make timely, sound decisions
- Recommend and implement program improvements, including strategies that strengthen protective factors, address service gaps, and enhance prevention outcomes
- Provide training and education to staff and community partners on prevention strategies, family preservation, and evidence-based practices
- Develop, strengthen, and sustain strategic partnerships with community agencies, service providers, faith-based organizations, and other stakeholders to expand access to resources that support family stability and child safety
- Lead outreach efforts to increase awareness and access to prevention services
- Collaborate with partners supporting maternal and infant health, behavioral health, education, housing stability, and overall well-being to address the underlying needs of families
- Serve as liaison to local, state, and federal agencies, boards, and task forces
- Monitor data collection, reporting accuracy, and performance metrics; use data to identify trends, assess service effectiveness, and support continuous program improvement.
- Assist with budgeting, financial tracking, and grant management; support the identification and pursuit of funding opportunities and additional revenue streams to strengthen prevention services

Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in social work and 2 years directly related experience or;
- Master’s Degree in a human services field and 3 years directly related experience or;
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work and 3 years directly related experience or;
- Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field and 4 years of directly related experience or;
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years directly related experience.
- One year of experience may be substituted for the NC Child Welfare Pre-service/Collaborative training.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted Degree must be from an appropriately accredited college or university.

Special Requirements:
Must complete required NC Child Welfare pre-service and ongoing in-service training. Position requires possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina. Position is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the Drug Free Workplace Policy. This position may require participation in an on-call rotation and occasional irregular or non-standard work hours. Work supervised is predominately at the level of Social Worker III and SW-IAT. May carry a small caseload or perform Social Worker III duties as needed. May travel to homes, schools, and community locations; may transport clients. May assist with emergency or disaster shelter operations. This position may require travel within the county and occasional flexibility in schedule to meet program needs
Physical Requirements:
