Job Description And Duties
This job posting is being used to fill a permanent, full-time Accountant I (Specialist) position. This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies, if additional positions become available.

You must have taken and passed the Accountant I (Specialist) examination, be a current state employee with lateral transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility in order to apply. Please see the Examination Information section for additional information.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

The normal work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

  • Twice per month, the Accountant I (Specialist) provides customer service to staff on payday, which requires working one of the following work shifts:

6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
