Michigan City Woodland Medical Center 8865 W 400 N Michigan City, Indiana 46360 The Vascular Tech Certified aids the physician in diagnosis and treatment of veins and arteries by conducting non-invasive diagnostic ultrasounds of the body. This position works collaboratively with the physician providing clear technical findings of the procedure results, and provides professional care and education for patients pre and post procedure. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Monday - Friday 7:30a - 4:30p Collaborates with the Vascular Surgeon and/or Cardiologist for diagnostic information on the patient. Performs the full realm of venous and arterial studies utilizing established protocols. Decides which images to include, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas. Determines whether the scope of the exam should be extended, based on findings. Maintains records that include patient information, sonographs, interpretations, files of correspondence, publications and regulations, as well as quality assurance records, such as pathology, biopsy, or post-operative reports. Demonstrates safety for patients, staff, and self, as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines. Observes and cares for patients throughout examinations to ensure their safety and comfort. Cleans, checks, and maintains sonographic equipment, submitting maintenance requests or performing minor repairs as necessary. Maintains and orders supplies as needed. Operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of the motion, shape, and composition of blood, organs, tissues, or bodily masses. Prepares patient, including settings and angles. Observes screen during scan to ensure that image produced is satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, adjusting equipment as required.
