Position Summary:
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager and project team in the administration, coordination, and management of all aspects of construction projects. The APM may also assume full responsibility for smaller projects when appropriate, ensuring successful execution from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of budgets, subcontracts, and purchase orders.

Support and manage procurement tracking, submittals, and document control.

Attend and represent CWD at owner, subcontractor, and coordination meetings.

Maintain and update project logs, including procurement, submittals, and RFIs.

Coordinate with the Superintendent on scheduling, safety implementation, and project logistics.

Manage project closeout processes, including punch lists and documentation.

Prepare and review meeting minutes, change order requests, and cost control reports.

Assist in the development of bid packages and support preconstruction activities.

Help document claims and support any litigation-related efforts as needed.

Promote and enforce CWD’s values, standards, and policies across all project interactions.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

4–6 years of relevant project management experience in the construction industry.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Viewpoint.

Strong knowledge of construction processes, contracts, schedules, RFIs, submittals, and procurement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Effective negotiation, organizational, and time management skills.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to access active construction sites, including climbing ladders and stairs, navigating uneven surfaces, and working in varying environmental conditions. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
Work Environment:
Primarily on-site at construction projects, with exposure to mechanical equipment, heights, weather, and construction-related noise. Safety protocols and PPE are required at all times.
