As a Field Support Specialist, you will provide onsite and occasional remote technical support to C Spire Business customers, assisting with pre-deployment configuration, new site installations, and day-to-day IT operations. You will serve as a trusted resource for customers, offering technical expertise and professional service that reflects C Spire’s commitment to excellence. This role requires a self-motivated, customer-focused individual who is eager to learn, patient under pressure, and capable of executing tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

  • Create, manage, and resolve Service Requests, Incidents, and Problems through a ticketing system.

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for IT infrastructure and end-user environments.

  • Respond to inbound service calls, emails, and dispatch requests as necessary.

  • Troubleshoot and administer Windows-based applications, operating systems (desktop and server), and Server Roles including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, DFS, Print Server, and File Server.

  • Perform computer and server imaging, virus and malware remediation, and basic system rebuilds.

  • Configure and troubleshoot printers, multifunction devices, switches, and wireless connectivity.

  • Perform installations and configuration for new site deployments, ensuring successful implementation and documentation of all systems.

  • Troubleshoot MFP, scanner, and fax issues in both local and networked environments.

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation of all installed or configured equipment.

  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues including Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic switch configuration.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve complex customer issues.

  • Ensure equipment, configurations, and documentation are accurate and updated.

  • Participate in scheduled on-site and remote deployments, ensuring professional and timely completion.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork, maintaining a positive and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.

  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs as required.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the Field Services team.

For positions at level I, we require:

  • 1–2 years of experience supporting or implementing IT infrastructure.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting Windows desktops and/or servers.
  • Basic networking familiarity, including routers, switches, and server hardware.
  • Experience working in data centers or customer network environments.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or an industry-standard certification (A , Network , CCENT).
  • Experience with Windows 7, 8, 10, and Server 2008–2016.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Exchange (2010–Office 365), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with VMware, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop, and terminal server environments.
  • Experience with EMR/EHR or Practice Management applications.

For positions at level II, we require:

  • 2–3 years of experience supporting or implementing IT infrastructure.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting networking technologies or equivalent college coursework.
  • Demonstrated ability to support Windows desktop and server environments with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of network troubleshooting, switching, and connectivity.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication with customers and technical teams.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or an industry-standard certification (A , Network , CCENT).
  • Advanced experience with networking, server imaging, and configuration management.
  • Experience with Citrix, VMware, or Microsoft Administrator/Engineer-level technologies.
  • Familiarity with data center operations and customer site deployments.
  • Experience managing network devices via CLI.
  • Professional experience in healthcare IT environments (Greenway, Allscripts, ECW, etc.).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical activities such as bending, climbing ladders, sitting, and driving. Work is performed primarily in climate-controlled office spaces but may include time in network closets or data centers with varying temperatures and noise levels. Position requires up to 100% local travel, with overnight travel estimated at 1%. Must be able to work five 8-hour days (40 hours per week) with start times ranging between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM Central.
