Working Hours Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-4:30pm
Job Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for coordinating daily operations on the production floor, ensuring team members meet safety, quality, and productivity standards. This hands-on leadership role supports shift goals, promotes continuous improvement, and acts as the communication bridge between management and production staff.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of operators or technicians to meet daily production targets and quality expectations.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and adjust workloads as needed to optimize team performance.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members on processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and company policies.
- Monitor and communicate production metrics such as cycle times, scrap rates, and downtime.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or process issues.
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing safety rules and reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and other departments to address issues and minimize disruptions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, Lean, and Kaizen.
- Lead and support team members to meet production goals and efficiency standards.
- Operate, set up, and troubleshoot production machinery and tools.
- Inspect and perform minor fixture repairs, report defects or equipment issues.
- Train and evaluate team members using standardized checklists.
- Read blueprints and job orders to determine machining requirements.
- Ensure accurate part inspection using calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
- Monitor and document production activity, defects, and timekeeping.
- Enforce safety policies and report violations or concerns.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Qualification Requirements
- Speak, read and write English.
- Successfully pass drug screen.
- Successfully pass background check.
- 1 years of trade school, vocational education, work experience or apprenticeship preferred.
- Must be trained as a First Responder.
- Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion.
- Ability to interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Mechanically inclined with a precise attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic math functions, including trigonometry.
- Understand company Quality Policy and ISO 9001 fundamentals.
- Have solid written and verbal communication skills that can be practiced at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to use the latest technology/software provided by Company.
- Ability to adhere to all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Ability to work with deadlines.
- Have good organizational skills and precision attention to detail.
- Have an excellent sense of priorities and be a self-motivator.
- Physical Demands:
- Stand, walk, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
- Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
- Basic color perception, peripheral and depth perception, close vision of 20 inches or less, distance vision of more than 20 feet are required for reading blueprints and any required customer documentation.
- Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
- Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
- Working Environment/Conditions:
- Moderate to high noise levels from operating machines.
- Physical hazard being exposed to moving equipment and machine parts.
- Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
- Heat/humid/cold weather conditions.
- May be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
- May require working over-time and/or off Shift hours depending on customer needs.
