Position Type    Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt 

Reports To         Production Engineer 

Working Hours   Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm 

Job Summary: 

A CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing all CNC machinery, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems, by performing routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, identifying faulty components, and replacing parts to ensure the smooth and accurate operation of manufacturing equipment, requiring a strong understanding of CNC controls, electrical systems, and mechanical principles. 

Major Role and Responsibilities (80%):

  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and scheduled maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration checks to prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctions on CNC machines, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues by analyzing error codes, reading schematics, and using diagnostic tools.
  • Part Replacement: Identify and replace worn or damaged components on CNC machines, such as bearings, seals, motors, and sensors.
  • Machine Alignment: Perform necessary adjustments and alignments to ensure precision machining accuracy.
  • Software Maintenance: Update and troubleshoot CNC machine control software as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used.
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with engineers and operators to resolve complex machine issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations while working on machinery. Maintain a safe, clean, neat, accident-free, and healthy work environment.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.
  • Understand the Company Quality Policy and the fundamentals of ISO 9001

Required Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of CNC machine operation, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex machine malfunctions.
  • Electrical and Electronic Skills: Knowledge of electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting electrical components.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Reading Blueprints and Schematics: Ability to interpret technical drawings and diagrams to understand machine design and repair procedures.
  • Computer Literacy: Familiarity with CNC control software and basic computer skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical approach to identify root causes of machine issues and develop effective solutions.

Education Requirements: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience working on CNC equipment.

Qualification Requirements: 

  • Successfully pass drug screening
  • Successfully pass background check
  • Speak, read, and write English.
  • Have solid written and verbal communication skills that can be practiced at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to adhere to all OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work with deadlines.
  • Have good organizational skills.
  • Have a precise attention to detail.
  • Have an excellent sense of priorities and be a self-motivator.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Stand, walk, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, reach overhead and bend to the floor. 
    • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently. 
    • Ability to safely lift 50 pounds. 
    • Basic color perception, peripheral and depth perception, close vision of 20 inches or less, distance vision of more than 20 feet. 
    • Ability to monitor surrounding alarms and sounds to avoid equipment moving around the shop.
  • Working Environment/Conditions:
    • Moderate to high noise levels from operating machines. 
    • Physical hazard being exposed to moving equipment and machine parts. 
    • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.
    • Heat/humid/cold weather conditions.
    • Exposure to potentially hazardous materials.
  • May be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
  • May require working over-time and/or off Shift hours depending on company needs.
