Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support the Controller in overseeing accounting operations across multiple construction entities.
Assist with weekly bank reconciliations and month-end close activities.
Job Costing & Project Accounting
Monitor and analyze job cost and Work in Progress (WIP) reports to identify variances between budget and actual performance.
Partner with project managers to provide timely and accurate financial insights.
Ensure proper cost allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Perform financial modeling and variance analysis to support management decisions.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and accounting policies.
Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal, state, and industry-specific regulations.
Team Support & Leadership
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments including operations, procurement, and project management.
Provide training and guidance to develop team capabilities across accounting functions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or contractor accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP, job cost accounting, and WIP reporting.
Experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, or similar).
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
