Duties
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the store and provide exceptional service throughout their shopping experience
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges with accuracy and speed
- Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and perform cash handling duties responsibly
- Assist customers with product inquiries, including product demos when applicable, to enhance their understanding and satisfaction
- Upsell relevant products or services to maximize sales opportunities while respecting customer preferences
- Maintain an organized checkout area by stocking supplies, managing merchandise displays, and merchandising products attractively
- Conduct stock replenishment by restocking shelves and ensuring the sales floor is clean and inviting
- Support inventory management through accurate product scanning and stock counting
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or providing assistance remotely
- Engage in basic retail math to handle transactions confidently and ensure register accuracy
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive shopping environment
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash register operations in a retail or grocery store setting
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in guiding team members or training new staff
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions, inventory counts, and pricing adjustments
- Strong communication skills in both verbal and written forms; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customers effectively
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor; adept at resolving issues promptly and professionally
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques to create appealing product displays that attract customers
- Experience with product demos or explaining features to enhance customer engagement is advantageous
