Duties
- Assist with excavation activities using equipment such as excavators, backhoes, dozers, graders, loaders, and water trucks to prepare sites for construction.
- Support construction utility work by locating underground utilities accurately using utility locating techniques before digging or trenching.
- Maintain and perform basic mechanical maintenance on construction machinery including excavators, loaders, and dump trucks to ensure optimal performance.
- Help with grading tasks to achieve proper site elevation and drainage according to project specification.
- Follow all safety regulations diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe work environment for everyone on site.
Experience
- Prior experience in construction or excavation work is preferred but not required; we value motivated individuals eager to learn.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, water trucks, and dump trucks is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of construction utility work including utility locating techniques is a plus.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting is beneficial.
- Understanding of federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures is important for maintaining a safe job site.
- Construction site experience involving grading, paving, or horizontal drilling will help you excel in this role.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or experience with commercial truck driving is advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided for the right candidate.
