Landscape Operations Manager

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and professional Operations Manager for our growing company.

This position requires leadership and sound production management experience to support the growth goals of the company. Applicants should demonstrate production experience with excellent management and communication skills.

The Landscaping Operations Manager is responsible for owning and driving the day-to-day operational performance and profitability of the company by managing the field operations, including scheduling, labor efficiency, crew productivity, gross margin, safety performance, quality control, and customer satisfaction.

This position is about producing results. The Operations Manager ensures that every crew, every hour, and every dollar is working toward the company's goals. The expectation is simple: make the plan work, make money, and develop the team below you to do the same.

The following is an outline of responsibilities for key tasks:

Core Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Accountability

• Own all field operations and execution across the company.
• Ensure the right people are in the right seats, with a clear org structure beneath this role.
• Hold supervisors, foremen, and crew leaders accountable to performance expectations.
• Address employee issues promptly, professionally, and consistently.
• Build a culture of ownership, efficiency, and results-not excuses.

Labor Management & Budget Control

• Manage labor hours vs. budgeted hours daily and weekly.
• Control and approve overtime-overtime must be intentional, justified, and profitable.
• Confirm payroll accuracy before submission.
• Ensure crews are staffed appropriately for workload and scope.
• Make real-time labor adjustments to protect margins.

Crew Productivity & Profitability

• Track and improve crew productivity across all jobs.
• Ensure work is completed within estimated time and cost.
• Identify underperforming crews or individuals and take corrective action.
• Work with management to adjust production rates, staffing, or methods when targets are not being met.
• Driving job profitability/production efficiency is non-negotiable.

Quality Control & Client Satisfaction

• Ensure work always meets company quality standards.
• Reduce and manage quality callbacks.
• Investigate repeat issues and implement corrective action.
• Hold supervisors and crews accountable for workmanship and attention to detail.
• Balance speed with quality-both are required.

Safety, Damages & Risk Management

• Oversee safety compliance across all crews.
• Investigate and address safety incidents and property damage.
• Ensure incidents are documented, reported, and corrected.
• Enforce safety policies consistently-no shortcuts.
• Reduce preventable damage through training, accountability, and process improvement.

Systems, Reporting & Communication

• Use company systems (LMN, time tracking, reporting tools, etc.) to monitor performance.
• Review and understand job costing, labor reports, and productivity data.
• Communicate expectations clearly to supervisors and crews.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on operational performance, challenges, and wins.

Leadership Expectations

• Lead from the front with clarity, consistency, and accountability.
• Make decisions that support profitability, safety, and long-term growth.
• Coach, train, and develop supervisors to become strong leaders.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Landscape operations management and scheduling: 2 years (Required)
