Classification: Nonexempt

Reports to: Site Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Yard Specialist operates a variety of equipment, including forklifts and skid steers while working in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the Yard Specialist is responsible for organizing various types of stone, maintaining the cleanliness of the property, shipping and receiving, and assisting customers.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains yard cleanliness.
  • Assists customers with the loading and unloading of materials.
  • Completes shipping and receiving of materials.
  • Greets customers and provides appropriate guidance.
  • Operates construction or power equipment, such as skid steers and forklifts.
  • Occasionally operates small equipment such as blowers and hand tools.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor; cleans equipment.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside-weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 7am – 6pm, with occasional Sundays required.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

Preferred Education and Experience

2 years of skid steer experience.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents.
