Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in industrial construction and field operations. This role is ideal for candidates who have progressed from the field (Mechanical Foreman, Superintendent, Millwright Lead, Ironworker Lead, or Assistant Project Manager) and are ready to take the next step in their career.
You will play a key role in both project execution and preconstruction efforts, helping drive mechanical scopes from planning through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, manpower, and overall execution
- Work closely with field leadership to ensure productivity, safety, and quality standards
- Assist with and review estimates, takeoffs, and bid packages
- Track costs and support project forecasting
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, and internal teams
- Support procurement of materials, subcontractors, and equipment
- Identify and resolve project risks, delays, and field challenges
Qualifications
- Background in industrial mechanical construction (required)
- Field experience performing tasks such as:
- Equipment setting and alignment
- Rigging and setting of heavy mechanical equipment
- Structural steel installation
- Conveyor systems, piping systems, or process equipment installation
- Welding, fabrication, and mechanical assembly
- Experience as a Millwright, Ironworker, Welder, or similar trade strongly preferred
- Experience leading crews as a Foreman, Lead, or Superintendent preferred
- Exposure to estimating, project coordination, or planning is a plus
- Estimating experience is a strong advantage and highly valued in this role
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and rigging plans
- Strong communication skills and desire to grow into a leadership role
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast
