What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Artisan position at Byers' Choice Ltd?
About Byers’ Choice
For more than 40 years, Byers’ Choice has proudly handcrafted the Carolers® — one of America’s most beloved Christmas traditions. Each figurine is made right here in our Chalfont, Bucks County workshop, where every piece is touched by human hands and shaped with care.
We’re a family-owned company built on creativity, craftsmanship, and community. From our earliest days at Joyce and Bob Byers’ home to today’s workshop, our mission has stayed the same: to bring joy to others through meaningful, handmade holiday décor. Every Caroler is one-of-a-kind — just like the artisans who make them.
Position Summary
As a Production Artisan, you’ll be part of the team that brings Byers’ Choice creations to life. Some of our artisans are skilled artists who sculpt, paint, or design, while others develop their craft through hands-on training and attention to detail.
Every role is important. Whether you’re painting a face, sewing a coat, or assembling a finished Caroler, your work becomes part of something special — a product that brings smiles, memories, and warmth to homes across the country.
If you take pride in working with your hands, enjoy being creative, and want to be part of a close-knit team that values tradition and craftsmanship, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Handcraft and assemble Byers’ Choice Carolers® and other décor with care and attention to detail.
- Perform hands-on production work such as sculpting, molding, dressing, painting, sewing, or assembly.
- Follow clear artistic and production guidelines to ensure each piece meets our quality standards.
- Inspect your work and the work of your team to help maintain the high standards our customers expect.
- Keep your workspace organized and safely handle materials and tools.
- Support your teammates and take on other tasks as assigned — we all work together to meet daily goals.
- Learn new skills and rotate through different areas of production over time.
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity.
- Experience in handcrafts, painting, sewing, sculpting, or similar work is a plus — but not required.
- Comfortable working with your hands on detailed, repetitive tasks.
- Ability to handle a variety of materials such as plaster, fabric, clay, adhesives, and paint.
- Reliable, positive, and willing to learn.
- Able to sit or stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Most importantly — someone who takes pride in making something meaningful.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- We’ll train you — no experience required.
- You’ll be part of the only company in the U.S. still handcrafting Christmas décor at scale.
