BY Recruiting is partnering with an established precision manufacturing company in the Lehigh Valley. The business has grown significantly, and they need a Quality Manager who can lead the quality function, build a strong team, and put systems in place that scale with that growth.
This is a leadership role with real ownership. You will lead a team of 4 to 8 quality engineers and inspectors, own the quality management system, and serve as the primary quality contact for customers and suppliers. A near-term priority is stabilizing and strengthening the quality system ahead of an upcoming IATF 16949 audit.
What you will do
- Lead, develop, and grow a team of quality engineers and inspectors
- Own the quality management system to IATF 16949
- Own PPAP and APQP for new and existing products
- Drive root cause and corrective action using 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone
- Manage SPC and quality metrics including scrap, rework, and PPM
- Manage supplier quality and supplier performance
- Serve as the primary customer and supplier quality contact, with regular calls and Teams meetings
- Lead internal and external audits, MRB, and quality training
What we are looking for
- Machining background or IATF 16949 experience (both is ideal)
- 5 to 7 years of quality management experience in a machining or automotive manufacturing environment
- Proven experience managing people and building a team
- Proven experience managing customer and supplier quality relationships
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and SPC
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
Preferred
- ASQ CQE or Six Sigma certification
- Supplier quality management experience
- MSA and DOE experience
- ISO 14001 knowledge
- Experience with CMMs and precision measurement
Travel
Limited travel to customer or supplier sites as needed.
Compensation and benefits
- $90,000 to $130,000 base salary, depending on experience
- 20% annual bonus target with a strong payout history
