BW Industrial Construction is seeking a dynamic and motivated Business Development Manager to join our Phoenix, AZ team. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise and sales acumen to drive business growth and expand our presence in the water and wastewater markets, including industrial, civil, municipal, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water/wastewater engineering and construction, with proven experience in developing new opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and leveraging active contacts in sectors like treatment facilities, distribution systems, and sustainable water solutions. A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and achieving measurable results is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales management team to identify and qualify potential customers through pre-sales activities, focusing on RFPs, bids, and opportunities in water treatment, wastewater processing, and related civil/industrial infrastructure.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of client requirements across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or other construction disciplines specific to water/wastewater projects, such as hydraulic systems, pumping stations, and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies that align with customer needs and market trends in Phoenix, AZ, including drought resilience initiatives, reclaimed water projects, and industrial permitting.
  • Provide ongoing support throughout the sales process, ensuring a seamless transition from prospect to customer, including proposal coordination and contract negotiations.
  • Drive growth by expanding the company’s footprint in the water and wastewater sectors, targeting municipal utilities, industrial clients, and civil engineering firms.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with active contacts, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business through proactive follow-up and tailored solutions.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving with a focus on achieving results, such as securing high-value contracts and navigating regulatory landscapes like ADEQ (AZ).

Requirements

  • 5 years of proven experience in business development or sales engineering within the construction and engineering sectors, with a focus on water/wastewater projects (industrial, civil, municipal, etc.), including sustainable systems like modular pump stations, chemical dosing, pressure regulation, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leveraging active contacts to generate new opportunities in water treatment, wastewater management, and related infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes in water/wastewater, including treatment plant design, pipeline installation, hydraulic modeling, and compliance with local regulations, with the ability to translate client needs into actionable solutions.
  • Experience in the Phoenix, AZ markets, with knowledge of regional challenges such as water scarcity, flood control, and industrial expansion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required; advanced degrees, PE certification, or AWWA/CWEA credentials are a plus.

  • Willingness to Travel: 50% (Required; between AZ site and client meetings)

Pay: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
