American Red Cross CPR, First Aid & BLS Instructors Needed – Pierce & King County, WA (Contract 1099)
Butterfly Training Academy & Consulting LLC (BTAC) – Tacoma & Lakewood, WA
BTAC is expanding and launching our second hiring cycle for American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, AED, BLS Instructors across Pierce County, King County, and surrounding Washington State regions. We are seeking passionate, reliable, and highly skilled instructors who are committed to delivering high‑quality, standards‑based training that saves lives and strengthens communities.
Position Overview
We are hiring contract (1099) instructors to teach in‑person skills sessions for American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and Basic Life Support (BLS) blended learning courses. Classes are scheduled based on your availability, typically held in conference rooms or indoor cabana settings, with additional opportunities for mobile training across Washington State.
Who We’re Looking For
- American Red Cross Certified Instructors (CPR, AED, First Aid, BLS)
- American Red Cross Instructor Trainers are a plus
- Instructors from other organizations (example: AHA, HSI) willing to bridge to ARC.
- New instructor candidates who want to become certified instructors— training available
- Professionals with strong communication skills, teaching ability, and a passion for emergency response education
Pay Structure
- Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED (Approx 2hrs 15 min): $125 per session
- Basic Life Support (Approx 2.5-3hrs): $125 per session
- Both classes in the same day (Approx 4.5-5hrs): $250 per day
Direct deposit available via Zelle, Cash App, or Venmo immediately upon class completion.
Certification Requirements
Required: Current American Red Cross -Instructor Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid and/or BLS
- Accepted: Instructor Certification from other organizations such as AHA, HSI and more (must meet ARC bridging requirements)
- Optional: American Red Cross Instructor Trainer Certification (strong plus)
- Not certified yet? BTAC can train and certify you.
Equipment Expectations
- Preferred instructors possess equipment to train up to 12 students, including:
- Manikins
- AED Trainers
- Pocket Masks
- BVMs
- Laptop & projector
- Instructor teaching materials
BTAC can provide temporary equipment support for instructors who are still building their inventory.
Training Locations
- Tacoma, WA (Primary Training Center)
- Lakewood, WA (Secondary Training Center)
- Mobile training available statewide
Instructor Duties
- Conduct American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid, and BLS classes
- Deliver engaging, accurate, and standards‑based instruction
- Demonstrate proper CPR, AED, first aid, and emergency response techniques
- Evaluate participant performance and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain compliance with American Red Cross program requirements
- Create a positive, supportive learning environment
- Stay current with ARC guidelines and best practices
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Knowledge of CPR, First Aid, AED, and BLS procedures
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
- Organizational skills for managing class materials and documentation
- Previous teaching or emergency response experience preferred but not required
