What are the responsibilities and job description for the Right of Way Engineer position at Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing engineering duties on a wide array of civil engineering projects, specifically with Right-of-Way services. This individual will have the ability to produce quality, comprehensive documents which allow for clear property conveyances for our public infrastructure projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete project management duties on a wide array of Right-of-Way projects for both INDOT and Local Public Agencies.
- Understanding and review of relevant title issues
- Preparation of legal descriptions
- Preparation of parcel plats
- Preparation of right-of-way plans
- Complete ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys as well as Boundary Retracement Surveys
- Coordination with Clients, Design Engineers, Appraisers, Acquisition Agents, and CADD Technicians in developing right-of-way documents in accordance with budgets and schedules
- Understanding of current existing right-of-way standards
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Must possess Professional Surveying License. Continuing education to remain current with area of responsibility.
- Five years of Right-of-Way experience preferred.
- A strong understanding of INDOT’s standards for R/W Plan Development
- Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Excellent technical writing skills, with considerable time spent corresponding with customers via e-mail.
- Desire to work closely with clients, proactively addressing critical path needs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Primary functions of this role are in an office setting. At times, travel to project sites will be necessary to verify field conditions.
