Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Health and Safety Specialist to champion a safe and compliant work environment across our landscape and site construction operations. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs that promote occupational health, ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, and foster a culture of safety excellence. Your expertise will help prevent workplace incidents, reduce risks, and support the well-being of all team members through effective training, rigorous safety audits, and incident investigations.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies aligned with OSHA regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and root cause analyses to identify potential risks within manufacturing processes.
- Lead incident investigations by gathering facts, analyzing causes, and preparing detailed report writing to inform corrective actions.
- Deliver engaging training sessions on topics such as OSHA compliance, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations, first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and occupational health protocols.
- Manage workers' compensation claims by ensuring proper documentation, adherence to workers' compensation law requirements, and facilitating return-to-work programs.
- Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness for various scenarios.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident reports, training logs, and compliance documentation to support ongoing EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a construction environment with a strong understanding of OSHA standards and occupational health principles.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, OSHA safety training, and EPA regulations are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of workers' compensation law and experience managing related claims.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis effectively.
- Excellent report writing skills for documenting incidents, inspections, and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful training & development sessions that enhance employee safety awareness.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams committed to safety excellence.
