The Family Economic Support Specialist I
reviews and processes applications for public assistance and disability programs. This includes verifying information, updating case data in electronic systems, and ensuring that all actions comply with state and federal standards. And hospital guidelines.
This position requires the ability to manage a high-volume caseload, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to frequent policy updates and changes in computer systems. Strong organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are essential for success.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting interviews with applicants and recipients to collect and verify information needed to determine eligibility for Medicaid, disability, and financial assistance programs.
- Meeting with patients at bedside to complete interviews, gather documentation, and assist with the application process.
- Providing clear guidance to clients regarding required documentation, time frames, and next steps.
- Maintaining and updating case files across multiple electronic databases and systems.
- Recording and documenting all case activity, communications, and verifications.
- Collaborating with hospital staff, social workers, and external agencies to ensure timely and accurate case processing.
- Managing a large caseload efficiently, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal requirements.
