This role will involve working in a team of Data Scientists led by a Lead Data Scientist to develop advanced data science solutions, leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence, to drive enterprise-wide innovation across various business lines and products.

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist, Machine Learning (insurance, underwriting) to join our Data & AI team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced individual contributor with a strong background and expertise in production-ready AI/ML solutions, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-level AI/ML solutions and products. This role will involve working in a team of Data Scientists led by a Lead Data Scientist to develop advanced data science solutions, leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence, to drive enterprise-wide innovation across various business lines and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data Science Workstreams: Lead use cases and workstreams with junior data scientists, providing technical guidance and mentorship throughout the project lifecycle.
- End-to-End Model Development: Contribute to the complete model lifecycle, including data exploration and understanding, feature engineering, model training and validation, ensuring quality, security, scalability, and fairness in all solutions.
- Use Case Development & Analysis: Support use case development from initial project scoping and design through data reception, processing, analysis, and modeling to creation of final reports and presentations.
- Advanced ML & AI Implementation: Utilize advanced statistical and AI/ML techniques to create high-performing predictive models and creative analyses to address business objectives and partner needs, including building LLM/AI powered application prototypes with lightweight UI (e.g., Streamlit).
- Data Quality & Deployment: Identify source data and perform data quality checks in both development and production, package models/solutions and deploy in cooperation with Data Engineers and MLOps, and adhere to model governance, documentation, and testing best practices.
- Education: PhD with 2 years of experience, or Master's degree with 4 years of experience in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
- Experience: 3 years of hands-on ML modeling/development experience with demonstrated track record of delivering enterprise-level AI/ML solutions
- Skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Solid background in algorithms and a range of ML models
- Knowledge of various machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree, bagging/boosting, artificial neural networks, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with data wrangling including fuzzy matching, regular expression, distributed computing, and applying parallelism to ML solutions
- Working knowledge of core software engineering concepts (version control with Git/GitHub, testing, logging)
- Working knowledge of NLP, LLMs, RAG architecture, and agent frameworks
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex ideas simply to non-technical partners
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with superb attention to detail
- Other: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Experience in insurance underwriting
- Background in insurance, financial services, or related industries
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to data scientists
- Strong project management skills with ability to monitor/track performance for enterprise success
- Experience with safe automation design and evaluation systems
- Competitive Salary: $170,000 - $180,000

Salary : $150,000 - $180,000
