The ideal candidate will be a seasoned software engineer with 5 years of Android development experience who is excited to build apps enjoyed by millions around the world. This role will involve leading entire projects from start to finish, maintaining critical components of our streaming platform, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build the best Live and video-on-demand (VOD) applications in the world.

This role will involve leading entire projects from start to finish, maintaining critical components of our streaming platform, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to build the best Live and video-on-demand (VOD) applications in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership : Lead entire projects from start to finish while assisting with critical components including release process, remote configuration management, and live production issues
- Android Development : Develop and maintain the Android variant of the company Media Player, ensuring understanding of the company’s software stack and specifically the MediaX component
- Audio/Video Standards : Ensure that the latest audio and video standards like Dolby Vision, Dolby ATMOS, DTS:X, HDR10 , and more are delivered with full fidelity
- Cross-functional Collaboration : Work with application development teams, services engineering teams and product management to understand and explain device limitations and requirements
- Quality Assurance : Develop, debug, test and benchmark various components in the software stack while performing online code reviews of pull requests and contributing to quality and stability strategies
- Team Development : Facilitate career growth amongst team members and seek out leadership opportunities to improve processes with finesse and a positive attitude
- Education : College Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience : 5 years of production experience with Kotlin and the Android SDK
- Skills :
- Proficiency with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection
- Well-versed in different architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or equivalent)
- Pristine communication skills who can collaborate well across teams
- Experience resolving production issues ideally on a large scale
- Successfully lead a project from start to finish
- Technical Must-Haves :
- Familiarity with Android TV / Amazon Fire TV development
- Experience using performance evaluation tools such as Android Profiler
- Comfortable using common Android libraries such as Dagger 2 / Hilt, RxJava2, Groupie
- Other : Must be East Coast based and able to work hybrid (4 days onsite)
- Experience with streaming video, codecs, and DRM
- Knowledgeable about maintaining a large modularized codebase
- Strong understanding of Android internals and debugging Android Device issues
- Experience with testing strategies and telemetry approaches
- Familiarity with build systems and continuous integration systems
