We are currently seeking a Division Manager for our Victorville Location.
Burrtec is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over 15 municipalities throughout Southern California and employing more than 1,400 full-time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through company acquisitions and successful bid proposals. SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $160,000/year
The primary function of this position is to determine the allocation of duties for the Route/Shop Supervisors and Customer Service Manager by fostering a work environment based on teamwork and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for fostering a work environment based on teamwork and open communication.
- Organizes the division and determines the allocation of duties for operations, shop, and customer service management team members and department heads.
- Reviews and evaluates the performance of the Division and establishes proper performance measures
- Counsels managers and supervisors on execution of programs and provides direction for modification in work plans or implementation of contingency plans.
- Ensures all routes are completed in an efficient and safe manner
- Ensures team in meeting all safety standards.
- Oversees department personnel needs, including selecting, coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input and recommendations into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Will be accountable for the division's overall service, productivity, and safety and the lawful operating condition of company vehicles.
- Monitors and controls administrative costs and oversees all functional areas.
- Must maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure the adequate hiring and training of all personnel.

- Must be able to establish strong and effective working relationships with people inside and outside the division.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

- Ability to effectively interface with the general public, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.

- Must have the ability to plan, budget, schedule, and supervise multiple projects from concept to completion.
- Ensures location is in compliance with all regulatory agencies and statutes including the DOT and OSHA requirements.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Position requires a minimum of 7 years experience in a management position involving transportation, operations, customer service, and safety, required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in management.
- Previous experience in a transportation, waste industry, or recycling environment is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- A valid California Driver's License is required
PHYSICAL:
- Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day
- Manual dexterity and vision sufficient to operate a personal computer for long periods of time without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist or eye strain.
- Hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, snow, fog).
- Will be exposed to moderate noise and dust levels.
