The position ensures the effective integration of digital tools to enhance teaching and learning, oversees the districts one-to-one Chromebook initiative, and maintains secure, reliable, and high-quality technology services for all users.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop and implement a district-wide technology plan aligned to instructional goals and operational needs.2. Manage the one-to-one Chromebook program including deployment, repairs, inventory tracking, and replacement cycles.3. Oversee district network infrastructure, including wireless systems, firewalls, servers, and telecommunications to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.4.
Lead cybersecurity strategies and ensure compliance with state and federal data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, COPPA, CIPA).5. Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup systems, and incident response plans.6. Supervise and evaluate technology staff, vendors, and contracted services.7. Provide responsive and timely technical support services for staff and students; oversee help desk systems.
- Administer district data systems including the student information system (SIS), learning management systems (LMS), assessment platforms, and productivity tools.9. Plan and deliver professional development related to instructional technology integration and digital literacy.10. Collaborate with instructional leaders to evaluate, select, and implement digital tools and curriculum resources.11.
Maintain accurate asset management systems for all technology equipment and software licenses.12. Manage technology purchasing, bids, contracts, and vendor relationships.13. Prepare and monitor the technology budget and pursue additional funding opportunities through grants and E-Rate.14. Ensure onboarding and offboarding procedures include proper account management and device assignment.15.
Maintain district websites and communication platforms to ensure timely information, accessibility, and compliance.16. Develop and communicate technology-related policies, guidelines, and best practices.17. Conduct regular audits of systems and technology usage to inform improvements and future planning.18. Serve as the primary point of contact for technology needs during school safety incidents, emergency operations, and disruptions of service.19.
Stay informed on emerging technologies, trends in K12 digital learning, and industry standards for continuous improvement.20. Live streaming of School Committee meetings.21. All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.*This position also functions as the Technology Director for the Town of Burrillville, responsible for shaping and executing the Towns overall IT strategy. The role oversees technology operations, ensures alignment between IT initiatives and organizational goals, manages and coordinates the activities of the technical staff.
Core responsibilities include establishing technology policies, managing budgets, implementing system-wide cybersecurity, managing and coordinating with third-party vendors, leading emergency response efforts, driving digital transformation (including 2AI implementation), and providing technology support for all Town departments, with the Police/EMA departments being prioritized, Finance, Library, Burrillville Extended Care, Wastewater, and Spring Lake. This senior leadership role demands strong strategic planning abilities, effective communication at the executive level, and the capacity to balance hands-on technical oversight with long-term organizational vision.The Director will report to the Town Manager or designee when it relates to Town related activities.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field (Masters preferred).2. Minimum of 35 years of experience in technology leadership or systems administration, preferably in a K12 educational environment.3.
Demonstrated expertise with Google Workspace for Education and Chromebook fleet management.4. Strong understanding of network architecture, cybersecurity, data privacy compliance, and educational software systems.5. Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.6.
