GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Teacher implements the Burrillville School District curriculum with integrity while creating a flexible, engaging learning environment that supports student achievement, personal growth, and social-emotional development, and establishes positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Adapts and differentiates instructional methods, materials, and pacing — consistent with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles — to meet the individual needs of all students.
Uses formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction in real time, and provide timely, actionable feedback.
Evaluates students' academic growth, maintains accurate data and records, and prepares progress reports and report cards.
Follows the district curriculum with integrity, adhering to pacing and content guidelines.
Provides multiple, varied opportunities for students to reach proficiency, drawing on evidence-based instructional strategies.
Integrates instructional technology purposefully to support student learning, engagement, and achievement.
Collaborates with colleagues in professional learning communities and other team structures to align instruction, share best practices, and support continuous improvement.
Communicates effectively with parents/guardians through a variety of channels to collaborate around student progress.
Engages in ongoing professional learning.
Participates collaboratively with building administration in the teacher evaluation process, in accordance with district and state guidelines.
Engages in all district-sponsored professional learning related to curriculum.
Administers assessments in alignment with district and state guidelines.
Participates on faculty committees and supports student activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Rhode Island certification in the relevant content/grade span OR certification in the relevant content/grade span from a state with reciprocity
