Position Purpose:
The COE is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the support to the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and its students. Burrell College provides in-kind support to the COE, including staff and systems; this position is a Burrell College employee.
The Executive Director is responsible for the administrative management of the COE, and for the development and management of fundraising activities. The scope of this responsibility includes both strategic planning and daily operational management of the COE, the development and execution of all philanthropic engagements, and donor relations management benefiting the College’s students and mission-driven activities. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with COE Board members and with college leadership, faculty, and staff to provide donor education, advocacy for student support, updates on gifting impact, and communications through various channels, and to solicit and develop principal gift prospects. The Executive Director will coordinate and cultivate donors in the College’s service area and nationally.

- This position reports to the Burrell College President.
Examples of Duties
- Serve as the primary liaison between the College and the COE Board of Directors; support the planning and execution of meetings and administrative actions of the COE Board and its Committees, in compliance with COE bylaws.
- Develop strategic plans, goals, and objectives, including philanthropic, operational, and financial performance for the review and approval of the COE Board.
- Develop and maintain COE policies, procedures, donor agreements, and other contracts required for business operations.
- Develop annual and multiyear budgets and plans for the approval of the COE Board, in support of approved strategic goals and objectives.
- Provide regular operational and financial reporting against approved goals and objectives to the COE Board and the College President.
- Develop and maintain donor engagement initiatives, including developing and managing a portfolio of major gift and principal prospects, conducting research, closing major gifts and principal gifts, and building an ongoing public outreach for minor donations through events and employee giving campaigns.
- Develop and execute strategic donor cultivation plans, including major and principal gifts, public and employee appeals, annual giving campaigns, and planned giving opportunities.
- Support the College’s alumni development and cultivation initiatives; include alumni, parents, and friends of the College in solicitations and other development activities.
- Communicate regularly and effectively through various channels, including appeals, letters, publications, social media outreach, newsletters, storytelling, public speaking, and reports. Manage COE social media and website. Coordinate efforts with the College Marketing and Communications department.
- Research grant opportunities, submit grant applications, administer grant funding for the benefit of the College and the COE, and maintain grantor relationships.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and partners; involve stakeholders in both planning and execution of outreach activities.
- Implement and coordinate a broad-based strategy of donor recognition, stewardship, and donor communications. Manage donor gift acknowledgements and provide stewardship reports on endowed funds and major and principal gifts.
- Plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events; proactively identify opportunities to communicate with donors and alumni.
- Maintain donor management systems and databases; generate regular reports and metrics.
- Represent the COE and the College at a variety of events and donor meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Marketing, graphic design, and social networking experience.
- Strong organizational and planning skills that reflect the ability to prioritize competing demands, and complete action items within established timelines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Seven years of directly related experience required.
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
- Relevant experience in an educational or healthcare setting preferred.

- May require evenings and weekends.
