What are the responsibilities and job description for the Broker Assistant position at Burns & Wilcox?

We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, drive for career advancement and desire to develop relationships to join our team as an Broker Assistant. The Broker Assistant will support Brokers with all job functions to learn the industry, business, and job responsibilities necessary for future growth as a Broker. Serving as in intermediary between the Retailer and the Insurance Company, they market, identify, solicit, and arrange appropriate insurance coverage for clients. The Associate Broker will drive new business to assist Brokers in meeting or exceeding production goals, as well as build strong, positive relationships to increase the reputation of Burns & Wilcox.
Responsibilities
- Enter all new business submission into the operating system for Clearance
- Verification of licensing and compliance requirements for accounts
- Follow up for information request with retailers
- Prepare specifications of coverage and pricing for an account to be marketed to a carrier
- Responsible for marketing to designated markets upon instructions of Broker
- Communications with customers primarily confined to account information request, declination and/or quote release and follow-up
- Compliance relative to account servicing based on company’s policies and procedures
- Take initiative to complete assignments independently
- Process and review accuracy of endorsements and audits
- Work on non-routine and more complex issues with assistance as needed
- Responsible for the handling of binders
- Responsible for the handling of account invoicing
- Responsible for conducting quality control review on policies, endorsements, and audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- B2B sales experience
- Strong sales and marketing skills a must, business acumen, interest in continued education and professional development
- Insurance license preferred
