What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Burman & Zuckerbrod Ophthalmology Associates?
Looking to work in an ophthalmology office offering the latest treatments? Our Bloomfield Hills is looking for an ophthalmology technician to join our team! Experience in ophthalmology is preferred although we have been known to train highly motivated individuals.
Along with routine Ophthalmology care, we offer our patients some of the newest and best technologies currently available including light therapy for macular degeneration, light adjusting lenses for cataract surgery and dry eye treatments using several modalities including Forma I and Lumecca. If you are excited to help patients experience these new Ophthalmology treatments, you could be a great fit for our practice!
With this position you can expect to function as a physician extender and assist the physician to provide high quality care. This would include, but not be limited to:
- Obtaining a thorough patient medical and ophthalmic history,
- Obtaining preliminary ophthalmologic examination information, such as vision, intraocular pressure, and ocular muscle balance,
- Performing ancillary tests such as visual fields, Pachymetry, photography and topography,
- Administering eye drops,
- Assisting in cataract surgery consultations including educating patients on all premium lens options
- Assisting in consultations and treatments for dry eye, including those using the InMode device,
- Assisting in taking phone calls, faxes and electronic submissions for medication refills,
- Helping to keep the office clean and organized
- Assisting in minor procedures
In addition, the right candidate for the position will have the following:
- A positive attitude towards patient care and the delivery of excellent eye care
- A current knowledge of ophthalmic conditions and a strong desire to keep up to date in the areas of eyecare and eyecare technology
- A strong desire to assist the practice as we grow and educate our patients on the new advances and treatment options in Ophthalmology
- An ability to help in our other locations if needed.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
