Substitute - on call basis, as needed. Range 25 - Instructional Aide Special Education / Full Inclusion - $22.97/hour DEFINITION: Under supervision, to perform a variety of instructional activities; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials; performs a variety of clerical tasks associated with the classroom; assist in the preparation/organization of learning centers, may administer and score various tests; assists in the coordination and operation of a program for cross-cultural, limited English speaking students; other related work as required. QUALIFICATIONS Ability to: Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups. Communicate effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Understand and carry out oral and written direction; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Perform routine clerical tasks, operate variety of office related equipment. Learn to utilize a variety of instructional materials and procedures Knowledge of: Basic concepts of child growth and development, student behavior; appropriate English usage, basic arithmetical concepts; student behavior management strategies and techniques Experience: One year of college training or experience as a volunteer or paid aide. Ability to perform clerical skills required. Bilingual skills would be helpful Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably with training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, or related field. No child Left Behind compliance is a must -- requires successful passage of an exam or documented successful completion ("C" or better) of at least 48 semester units of college-level coursework. Proof of education is required.
