Substitute - on call basis, as needed. Range 21 - Instructional Aide - $20.80/hour DESCRIPTION Under supervision, to perform a variety of instructional activities; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials; performs a variety of clerical tasks associated with the classroom; assist in the preparation/organization of learning centers, may administer and score various tests; assists in the coordination and operation of a program for cross-cultural, limited English speaking students; other related work as required. CRITERIA Ability to: Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups. Communicate effectively in oral and written form; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Understand and carry out oral written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. Perform routine clerical tasks, operate variety of office related equipment. Learn to utilize a variety of instructional materials ad procedures. Knowledge of: Basic concepts of child growth and development, student behavior; appropriate English usage, basic arithmetical concepts; student behavior management strategies and techniques Experience: One year of college training or experience as a volunteer or paid aide. Ability to perform clerical skills required. Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, preferably with training or coursework in child growth and development, special education, or related field.
