Millwright

Position Summary

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, alignment, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery and equipment. This position works under the direction of the Millwright Foreman and Superintendent to safely complete assigned work while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and craftsmanship. The Millwright plays a vital role in supporting construction, maintenance, shutdown, and turnaround projects in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, align, level, and secure industrial machinery and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment change-outs, and mechanical installations.
• Assist with rigging, lifting, positioning, and setting equipment using approved rigging practices.
• Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Perform precision measurements and equipment alignments using appropriate tools and instruments.
• Inspect machinery and mechanical components for wear, damage, or defects.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and other equipment required to perform assigned work.
• Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-task planning, and daily toolbox talks.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged equipment, or near misses to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with unloading, staging, and organizing materials, tools, and equipment.
• Work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and customers to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Perform quality workmanship that meets project specifications and customer expectations.
• Support shutdowns, turnarounds, emergency repairs, and other maintenance activities as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous millwright, industrial maintenance, or mechanical construction experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of industrial machinery installation, maintenance, alignment, and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with rigging practices and safe lifting procedures.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• NCCER Millwright certification, OSHA 10/30, or other industry certifications are preferred but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.

Work Requirements

• Work in industrial environments, including manufacturing facilities, plants, and construction sites.
• Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and around operating machinery when required.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier materials with assistance or mechanical equipment.
• Stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
• Work around heavy equipment, noise, dust, vibration, and changing environmental conditions.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including fall protection when required.
• Work overtime, nights, weekends, shutdowns, and emergency call-outs as needed.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
