What You’ll Do
- Perform engineering calculations and prepare construction plans for bridge design and rehabilitation projects
- Analyze and design routine and complex structures including steel, concrete, and prestressed concrete bridges
- Conduct plan reviews, shop drawing reviews, and open channel hydraulic analysis
- Apply thorough understanding of structural engineering principles to solve challenging design problems
- Willingness to train in bridge field inspection techniques and procedures
- Learn specialized rope access methods for inspecting hard-to-reach structural elements
- Gain hands-on experience assessing bridge conditions and documenting findings
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) certification required
- 2 – 4 years of related bridge design, structural engineering, or civil engineering experience
- Foundational understanding of engineering principles and eagerness to apply them
- Willingness to learn structural analysis software and advanced design tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software experience required; MicroStation experience preferred
- Exposure to steel and/or concrete design preferred
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
