Duties

  • You will provide supervision, direction, and management of daily operations to include, but not limited to assigned transactional work such as gains and losses, military pay, separations, retirements, retentions, etc.
  • You will make decisions on technical and personnel problems, recommend performance awards, assign work based on priorities, and develop performance plans.
  • You will monitor organizational workload and productivity and make adjustments to meet departmental objectives.
  • You will prepare correspondence concerning any personnel actions to include those of a sensitive or technical nature for review and approval by higher authority.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advising personnel on military pay and personnel principles, concepts, laws, regulations and policies; 2) Developing solutions to military pay and personnel issues; 3) Evaluating military human resources programs to identify trends, deficiencies and accomplishments; and 4) Interpreting military human resources instructions to make decisions to military personnel administration and entitlements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
