Duties

  • You will advise customers regarding Department of Defense (DoD) Financial Management Regulations and associated directives and policies.
  • You will prepare financial summary reports and present briefings as required.
  • You will assess financial programs for effectiveness in meeting organizational goals.
  • You will analyze and resolve financial problems within an organization.
  • You will use software capabilities (e.g., Excel, Access, or similar software) to process, review, and report on financial data.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Financial Management Level III certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-12) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing budget formulation guidance and support; establishing networks and building partnerships, with academic department chairs, business support units, program analysts, and administrative support teams; 2) Exercising oversight of financial improvements initiatives, providing analysis, identifying programmatic issues pertaining to use of resources, funding/manpower allocation, and budget execution for assigned departments; improving the optimization of resources in execution of the mission; 3) Developing instructional methods by analyzing/evaluating work and proper techniques; presenting briefings and preparing reports for leadership review on the status, of progress, and the accomplishments of financial performance; 4) Evaluating and analyzing past results, conducting variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending revisions of accounting, managerial policies, and the procedures of systems.
