Teach English Language Learning courses in the English Language Learning department under
The Division of the Humanities and Learning Communities.

  • ELL-114 Integrated ELL Multi-Level (6 Credits) This 6-credit, multi-level ELL course develops integrated critical reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English through immersion in a selected theme, challenging academic content, and campus and/or community-based learning. Students participate in group work and connect the content to their own lives, using language in multiple ways. Students will demonstrate proficiency in incorporating sources to develop ideas with purpose, focus, and clarity of language. Using placement, studentswho successfully complete the course earn the equivalent of ELL 101, ELL 102, or ELL103. This course meets the General Education requirement for Creative Work.
  • ELL-101 Integrated ELL Level 1 (6 Credits) This course develops integrated critical reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English through immersion in a selected theme, challenging academic content, and campus- and/or community-based learning. Students participate in group work and connect the content to their own lives, using language in multiple ways. Students successfully completing Level 1 will produce, revise and edit written and oral assignments that demonstrate readiness for Level 2 as determined by departmental assessment processes. Students will demonstrate emerging skills in incorporating sources to develop ideas with purpose, focus, and clarity of language. Prerequisite: Placement. Depending on program of study, this course may meet the General Education requirement for Creative Work or General Education Elective.
  • ELL-102 Integrated ELL Level 2 (6 Credits) This course develops integrated critical reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English through immersion in a selected theme, challenging academic content and campus- and/or community-based learning. Students participate in group work and connect the content to their own lives, using language in multiple ways. Students successfully completing Level 2 will produce, revise and edit written and oral assignments that demonstrate readiness for Level 3 (or approaching readiness for College English) as determined by departmental assessment processes. Students will demonstrate increasing skill with incorporating sources to develop ideas with purpose, focus and clarity of language. Depending on program of study, this course may meet the General Education requirement for Creative Work or General Education Elective.
  • ELL-103 Integrated ELL Level 3 (6 Credits) This course develops integrated critical reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English through immersion in a selected theme, challenging academic content and campus and/or community-based learning. Students participate in group work and connect the content to their own lives, using language in multiple ways. Students successfully completing Level 3 will produce, revise and edit written and oral assignments that demonstrate readiness for College English as determined by departmental assessment processes. Students will demonstrate proficiency with incorporating sources to develop ideas with purpose, focus and clarity of language. Depending on program of study, this course may meet the General Education requirement for Creative Work or General Education Elective.

The primary assignment is at Brighton High School with a possibility of teaching at Charlestown and Chelsea campuses and other partner sites.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in English, English Language Learning or related field.
  • Evidence of engagement in culturally responsive pedagogies.
  • Experience with high impact teaching and learning practices (examples: undergraduate research, community engagement, critical pedagogies, learning communities).
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population.
  • Community college teaching experience preferred.

Additional Information:

Salary: $1,512.00 per Credit
