A Day in the Life:
Responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of day-to-day assigned Grain elevator production operations department shift. Support the Production Manager of Operations in monitoring and improving plant productivity.
Position Details: 12-hour rotating shift (48-hour week/36-hour week)
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
- Oversee assigned department production shift activities to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
- Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. May provide support in the monthly sanitation inspections and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
- Track and report shift productivity improvements.
- Approve daily reports and KPRs for the assigned shift.
- Report and trouble shoot operations issues.
- Provide input to the Production Manager of Operations and/or Plant Manager to plan annual shutdowns.
- Support Process Safety Management programs, where applicable.
- Help develop and drive Operations Excellence Plans to meet safety, quality and production goals and show continuous improvement in assigned shift.
- Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the assigned shift.
- Monitor KPR’s and help develop plans to bring assigned shift in line with Operations Excellence goals.
- Periodically participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned.
- Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering or related field or equivalent progressive experience of 2 years in soybean processing operations, or related and applicable activities in support of industrial operations is required.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages, as needed.
- Ability to work odd hours, weekends and rotating shift schedule required.
