Position Summary

The Press Operator performs typical press operations to support the assembly floor.  Monitors for defective materials and maintains a clean work area.  This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Performs typical press operations to support the assembly floor


• Detects and reports defective materials, miss hits, and questionable conditions to the department supervisor


• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations


• Tests restraints and other safety equipment


• Wear all PPE


• Develop the ability to operate a variety of press machines


• Monitor own work to ensure quality


• Perform job with minimal scrap or rework


• Possess a “mind-set” that commitment of excellence and plant safety are the most important goals


• Work performed in a plant environment


• Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, noise and sharp material


• Employee will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.


• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals in English.


• Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feels objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk, hear, taste and smell.


• Safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, plant approved gloves, long pants, short or long-sleeved shirts required.  No tank tops or sleeveless shirts


• Must be able to lift and/or move more than 10 to 25 pounds.


• Pushing and pulling, Bending and twisting at the waist, bending at the elbow, lifting from the floor, Turning of the head


• Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to operate the press machine without knowledge and understanding of the duties and responsibilities required for the safe operation of this machine.
